2009 Projected Standings
Download all player projections for 2009 in Excel format by clicking here: 2009 Player Projections (April 5, 2009 version).
Projections take into account the player's park-adjusted and level-adjusted performance over the previous three seasons. They are then projected based on the player's age, team context, park, expected playing time, and regression to the mean. Players can easily be sorted by league and/or position as a reference for your fantasy draft.
Baseball Dope sees the Red Sox and Yankees as the top teams in the AL, capturing the AL East title and Wild Card, with Tampa Bay having another great year but suffering from being in the wrong division. The Angels should take the AL West, with Oakland trying to make it interesting. Cleveland is the favorite in the AL Central, with the rest of the teams evenly bunched.
In the National League, the Braves, Mets, and Phillies will fight it out for the NL East crown, with the Braves slight favorites. The Cubs should run away with the NL Central. The Dodgers project to win a weak NL West with only 82 wins. All five teams are in the hunt. The frontrunners for the Wild Card appear to be the Mets, Phillies, and Cardinals.
